Planning Minister MA Mannan today said power supply will return to normalcy very soon as the government is sincerely working to produce electricity in the country.
“We are importing coal to operate power plants … I am hopeful that power supply will become normal within two weeks,” he said while addressing a roundtable conference on “Flood in haor region and preparedness” in Sunamaganj.
Mannan said, “We have to take all necessary preparation including building infrastructure to tackle upcoming flooding to minimise losses of lives and properties.”
Flood is a very natural phenomenon in Bangladesh, which is affected by the natural disaster almost every year, he said adding all relevant organisations have to work in a coordinated manner to deal with floods.
MP Pir Fazlur Rahman Misbah, MP advocate Shamima Akhter Khanam, Sunamganj Deputy Commissioner Didare Alam Mohammad Maksud Chowdhury, Municipality Mayor Nader Bakhat, and Tahirpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Karunasindhu Chowdhury Babul, among others, addressed the function with Daily Samakal’s Advisory Editor Abu Saeed Khan in the chair.
